GDSN is a network of data pools that are connected with the GS1 Global Registry. Trading partners will upload and share their product and location information through a data pool using GS1 standards (GTINs, GLNs). The data pool then connects to the GS1 Global Registry. When members of a supply chain wish to gain access to a supplier(s) data, they simply subscribe to the information through the GS1 Global Registry. The GS1 Global Registry will then connect this data sharing through the appropriate data pool that houses and stores this requested information. The goal then of the GDSN is to allow real-time updates to be shared among trading partners.
