Global Trade Item Number or “GTIN” is the GS1 standard for uniquely identifying a product at the sellable unit level so that no other item will have the same GTIN worldwide. This is a 14-digit number that contains information about your company (by including your GS1 company prefix) as well as unique set of characters specific to a product.
GTINs allow us to easily identify which products are associated to different events within FoodLogiQ, whether it be tracing back within an Investigation to determine which products were included in a shipment record, or report a quality incident for a specific product. You can enter your GTINs for each of your products upon uploading or entering manually within the Products page in Connect
You can read about and learn more about GTIN's on the GS1 website. As well as Assigning GTINs to Products in our knowledge base.
GTIN's are calculated based on the first few digits, so FoodLogiQ will finish the GTIN's based on the first few numbers you enter. The GS1 website also has a tool to check your number's check digit number.
