GS1 is a neutral, not-for-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium, with 112 member organizations (M.O.’s) worldwide. GS1 develops and maintains the most widely-used supply chain standards system in the world, including product and location identification, barcoding, EDI and XML. Companies work with their local M.O., and in the United States, they work with GS1 US. www.gs1us.org
GS1 standards create a common foundation for business by uniquely identifying, accurately capturing and automatically sharing vital information about products, locations, assets and more. Businesses can also combine different GS1 standards to streamline business processes such as traceability, through the use of Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs), Global Location Numbers (GLNs) and GS1-128 barcodes.
