To create specification sheet(s), you will first need to build a Specification Template. Once you have created a specification template with an internal flow, you can start building your specification sheet(s).
To get started:
1. Click on Specifications within the left-hand navigation menu. Click Add Specification and give a unique name to your specification sheet and select a template for this specification sheet
2. Complete the specification sheet as needed. The sheet can be saved and continue to be edited later.
Note on Category Descriptions: Category descriptions are editable in parent specifications using the text box. These descriptions are viewable (not editable) in child specifications.

Note on Managing Tables in Specifications: If your specification sheet contains attributes related to Food Safety & Quality Assurance, they will appear formatted as tables. These attributes will be grouped by type (HACCP, physical attributes, chemical attributes, microbiological details, and defects) and separated into stand-alone tables allowing for multiple entries in each of these areas. For example, in the critical control point table, the user could list specifications for several different critical control points, such as Washing or Cooking. In the microbiological details table, the user could list specifications for multiple microbiological organisms.
In addition, custom attributes can also be formatted as tables.
To add additional rows, click the +Add Entry button. To delete a row, use the trash can at the end of the row.
3. User roles with editing permissions to “Parent Specification” can collaborate on the specification sheet. For more information about creating user roles, visit Creating Custom User Roles
4. Some attributes in the Ingredients & Nutrients Powered by Genesis Foods are automatically integrated with Genesis Foods. See Ingredients & Nutrients Powered by Genesis Foods to learn more about this integration.
Internal Flows
To transition a specification through its internal flow, click the “Actions” button and select the next desired step from the Internal Flow list.
NOTE: Depending on how the internal flow was configured, there may be more than one transition button available for that step.
Once selected, the specification internal flow will transition to the next step and notify the necessary role(s) that the specification may need their review.
